Destination Review: Legoland California

A few weeks ago, Tommy and I decided to surprise Liam with a trip to Legoland! It was literally a last minute trip…like print the tickets the night before and book a hotel and GO! Tommy came across an awesome discount from his job and we couldn't resist. Liam is obsessed with all things Lego and we have been wanting to take a mini family trip. This was perfect.

Parking was the "standard theme park parking" of $15.00. For another $5.00, you are able to park in the front 2 lots…something that might come in handy if you are bringing smaller children or are handicapped. The perk to parking here at either lot is the in and out privileges.

I believe going in the off-season is best to avoid crowds. We didn't see too many crowds, but certain rides were well over 2 hours..I imagine this wait could double during spring and summer.

Enough of the boring stuff… let's get to some photos!!

SO. EXCITED.

Detail..even in the parking lot.

Ready!

One of the first things we saw.

This turned out funnier than intended. I am not sure what I was doing..??

Comfortable walking shoes are a MUST

My favorite!

Lego Volvo…"with real tires!"

Ride time (video to be posted soon)

Ok. This by far was the coolest. Major cities out of Legos.

We were partial to the New Orleans sets

Sea star at the aquarium

I will post more photos and the videos to Facebook. All in all, we had a great time and Liam even said this place was BETTER THAN DISNEYLAND (my heart broke a little…)!!!!! The price to get in is a little high for my taste..especially if you have kids who can't get on the rides or you are bringing a large family. If you can get a ticket deal, do it! My least favorite part was the aquarium. It was neat to see Lego sets inside the tanks with the fish and sharks, but a waste of time otherwise. It is an extra $20 (give or take) to add the aquarium to your Legoland ticket. Unless you absolutely must see a fish..I would skip it. To me, it just wasn't worth it.

My tips for visiting:

  • Visit during the off season and get there when or before the park opens
  • Comfortable shoes: This is a given, but the amount of walking done..especially when you visit the little Lego towns is intense.
  • Find a hotel her the park: The Legoland hotel at over $250 a night was a bit ridiculous to me. Unless you are making this a week vacation, another close, cheaper hotel is a great option.
  • Go with or without kids: I can guarantee a good time if you do not have children to bring. Tommy and I enjoyed looking at the detail that went into the park and the cities. We didn't even get to see it all!!
That is all for now! Hope you enjoyed!
